Insiders in Mahrez’s camp have exclusively revealed to Express Sport that terms of a transfer are being discussed with Liverpool chiefs.
But Jurgen Klopp’s men are not his No 1 option.
Mahrez has just bought a property in London and it remains his preference to sign for Arsenal - if a deal can be done.
Sources close to the player insist, however, that no talks have been held with the Gunners.
Injury updates
Arsene Wenger has given fans an injury update regarding several
of his players ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Bournemouth this weekend.
“Ozil has a swollen knee. That’s why he was not involved on Wednesday,” Wenger said.
“We had good news [about Wilshere]. I saw him walking. He’s not out of the game on Sunday.
“We have [Aaron] Ramsey back in the squad, Ozil has a test tomorrow - 50/50.
“[Sead] Kolasinac has a little chance to be available.”
