         Messi stunned by Griezmann bid

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been left stunned after learning Real Madrid want to sign Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann.

Barcelona are frontrunners in the race for Griezmann, who is expected to quit Atletico at the end of the season.

Manchester United also want the France international, though Jose Mourinho is now prioritising a deal for Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.

Barcelona are in advanced talks with Griezmann and it seems only a matter of time before the 26-year-old makes the move to the Nou Camp.

But Spanish website Diario Gol say Real also want to sign the Atletico striker - in news that has left Messi stunned.

       Coutinho out of Liverpool squad

Philippe Coutinho was left out of Liverpool’s squad with Burnley today with a thigh injury.

But the timing of the withdrawal won’t have gone unnoticed to many who have followed Coutinho’s Reds career since the summer.

Barcelona want to sign Coutinho and Express Sport understands a £125m deal could be done this week.

Today is the first day of the transfer window.

Mohamed Salah is also out, as expected, with a groin problem.

Klopp said: "Phil [Coutinho] and Mo [Salah] aren't available, that's why they are not in the squad. [They're] both injured and [that's] not too cool but that's how it is.”

                          Goretzka denial

Bayern Munich have NOT wrapped up a deal for Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

That’s according to his agent, Jorg Neubauer.

"When the decision has been made, Leon and I will inform Schalke first of all," he told Sport1.

Schalke director Christian Heidel added: "Leon has not informed us that he has decided to change the air, and I trust Leon and his representative, with whom I had contact yesterday."

                    Umtiti transfer latest

Manchester City are favourites with the bookmakers to sign Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

Barcelona don’t want to lose Umtiti but he has a £53m release clause.

There is growing speculation that City will trigger the clause this winter.

And bookies Ladbrokes have installed City as 2-1 favourites ahead of Manchester United at 3-1 to secure the deal.
