Mahrez to replace Sanchez
Arsenal could make a move for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez if Alexis Sanchez departs this month.
That is a potential transfer which was discussed by Sky Sports pundits Ian Wright and Dennis Wise.
But there could be one catch with the switch, as former Chelsea midfielder Wise thinks that Mahrez might not want to join a team that is languishing in sixth place in the Premier League table.
“I don’t think Mahrez would want to go there,” Wise told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
“I think there would be other teams that Mahrez would look at and think he is capable of going into.
“Teams that are in a better position than Arsenal.
“If Arsenal are the only team then yeah, but if there are teams above then you would wait and consider the teams in the top five at the moment.”
Wenger drops Ozil hint
Arsene Wenger has dropped a huge hint surrounding the future of Mesut Ozil.
The German is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
But Wenger is hoping to keep the playmaker at the Emirates Stadium, especially after selling Francis Coquelin to Valencia.
“The best way to replace him is getting [Aaron] Ramsey and Ozil back,” Wenger said.
Wilshere injury update
Jack Wilshere was forced to withdraw from Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea last night because of a sprained ankle.
But fortunately manager Arsene Wenger revealed the injury is not as bad as first thought.
“He has an ankle sprain.,” Wenger said.
“ First look at it is not too bad. Of course for Sunday he will be short.
“How long will he be out? I don’t know. It’s a shame to lose him when he’s in such good form. It was by blocking the shot that turned his ankle.
“It was his good ankle, he has a good ankle. It’s a ligament.”
